In 1984, a small group of believers led by layman began meeting at a home, and later felt impressed to plant a new church in Katy. Upon receiving the approval from their denomination, Mason Road Assembly of God was launched. In 1991, after a few years renting and meeting at a storefront, the young congregation took a bold step of faith, purchased a burned out former used car lot and transformed it into a church. Later, a new pastor arrived, Jeff Davidson, and the church continued to grow. Subsequently, they built the current sanctuary on the same 1.6 acre property, and changed their name to Family Life Assembly of God (FLAG). In 2004, the Lord brought Pastor Albert & Rebekah Cortez to serve as Senior Pastor. Since then FLAG has experienced gracious growth, both numerically and spiritually, with many souls saved and lives transformed. Also, new ministries have been birthed, pastoral staff added, missions program significantly expanded, and a Spanish-language church launched. In 2008, FLAG purchased 8 beautiful acres of undeveloped land in a strategic location in south Katy, minutes from the Grand Parkway. Despite a slumping economy, FLAG was able to fully pay off the property little years, to the glory of God! Already, plans for a 22,000 square feet Phase One facility have been prepared, and FLAG is posed to relocate in order to continue “growing in grace” and impacting the Greater Katy Area with the precious gospel of Jesus Christ. |
